Real estate developers, community development professionals, local government officials and artists will discuss strategies for turning Midwest cities “from rust belt to artist belt” at a day-long conference in Cleveland May 14.
The conference, sponsored by the Community Partnership for Arts and Culture, will be held at the Cleveland State University’s Levin College of Urban Affairs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Sessions will focus on everything from how to market communities to artists to the legal and zoning implications of artist spaces. Speakers include Jeremy Nowak of The Reinvestment Fund and Ann Markusen from the Project on Regional and Industrial Economics as well as representatives from communities that have been successful in attracting artists as part of their revitalization strategy.
